Help CCE Marine's Back to the Bays Team restore Long Island’s oyster reef habitats! Participants will learn about the importance of oysters in filtering bay water, providing shelter and food for marine life, and preventing erosion. Then get involved in hands-on stewardship by collecting data and helping to deploy spat-on-shell oysters that will continue to grow into an oyster reef off Tiana Bayside Facility.
The event will be held outside onshore at Tiana Bayside Facility, Hampton Bays.
Be prepared to get dirty/wet. Work gloves are recommended. There are some tasks on shore as well as assistance wading into the water. Please bring waders or water shoes if you will be helping with reef planting.
Ages 13 and up welcome.
