Producers should keep in mind that this weather is becoming favourable for a coccidia infection
Coccidia is a protozoan parasite that lives mainly in the intestines and can form nodules
These erupt and can cause a darkened and either blood spotted or bloody diarrhoea
Young stock especially can die if not treated
A faecal test can let you know if this parasite is causing I’ll thrift in your stock
And after a positive diagnosis a consultation with your vet will give you the best treatment options
