Open Streets is closing King Street for Hamiltonians to enjoy the open road. No cars, just community.
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 28
10AM-4PM
Open Streets is a one-day transformation of King Street into a vibrant, car-free space for walking, biking, rolling, and community fun.
Located on King Street East, we close 3.6 km of the road from John Street to Gage Avenue.
Move through the city however you like – while enjoying community fun along the way. You’ll find music, games, entertainment, and local pop-ups—plus a dedicated lane for continuous movement.
Enjoy activities and programming at our 5 ‘Activation Hubs’ at John St, Wellington St, Wentworth St, Sherman Ave, and Bernie Morelli Recreation Centre.
Explore extra community programming at Ferguson Station and Barnesdale’s Mini Hub. Grab a bite at the Kitchen Collective’s food court.
Businesses all along the route remain open and many set up sales and pop-up stalls right on the street.
Why it matters: Open Streets promotes active transportation, supports local businesses, and brings neighbours together.
By promoting physical activity, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion, we’re create opportunities for healthier lifestyles, stronger communities, and a more vibrant city for everyone to enjoy.
