Join us in our art deco jewel for an evening of jazz music from Canada’s best jazz musicians!🎶
The evening will honor the timeless music of Stevie Wonder, with performances by two incredible Hamilton vocalists: JUNO Award-winner Sean Jones and singer-songwriter, musician and producer Joel Parisien. Hosted by local jazz singer-songwriter Karen Thornton!
Stevie Wonder is an American singer, songwriter, musician, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Blind since birth (1950), he burst onto the music scene when he was just 10 years old. His mission ever since has been to bring joy into people’s lives. His songwriting skills include sinuous melodies, gently uplifting harmonies from funk to ballads, bossa nova, as well as writing with other Motown artists. Stevie Wonder truly is a true musical legend!
🎤Sean Jones is a JUNO Award-winning R&B singer, songwriter, and performer who first made waves as the lead vocalist of In Essence, known for early 2000s hits like Friend Of Mine and You Will Never Find. After the group’s split, Jones carved out a solo path blending classic soul with contemporary sound. In 2015, he launched Soul in the City, a highly successful live residency at Toronto’s Casa Loma, showcasing his band The Righteous Echo and emerging local talent. His latest album, Weekend Lover, is a return to his R&B roots—filled with nostalgic ‘90s vibes and heartfelt songwriting.
🎤Joel Parisien is a genre-bending artist, songwriter, and producer best known as the frontman of Newworldson. He’s a four-time JUNO nominee (Gospel Album of the Year) and the writer of three top-five Billboard singles, with a touring history that spans North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. From early roots in analog synthesis to explorations in alternative rock, acid jazz, and neo-soul, Parisien’s sound has connected with gospel fans worldwide. He’s now leading a new project featuring members of Parliament/Funkadelic, including Chops Horns, Bernie Worrell, Dennis Chambers, and Fred Wesley—pushing funk and soul into bold, new territory.
