Build and solder your own DYI game handheld.
We will order game handheld kits and build them together. Example kit photo will be added soon. The kit is a generic gaming unit rather than a Nintendo or other company console.
This is basically 'intro to soldering 2 class' for beginning to intermediate students. This is a good stepping stone between our 'intro class' and our upcoming 'Game Gear' class.
Topics:
- covering basic to intermediate range soldering info and techniques
- soldering a "learn to solder" game handheld test kit
- discussion/demonstration of similar parts and processes in standard game consoles and handhelds
- discussion/demonstration how to remove caps and parts off standard video game consoles/handhelds
- material may be added or removed based on takeaways from our first two 'learn to solder' classes

Details:
The in-store class is 3 hours minimum and will have individual construction with guidance and instruction from the store owner.
Registration begins soon. We need to order supplies for each student, which is why the registration end date is before the class date. Please pay (cash) at the store by the registration end date.
Videography and photos will not be allowed. However, pens, paper, and digital notes are welcome.
Parents may assist minors (14-17) with a project if they only want to pay for one kit. Parents or guardians must stay with their kids during the class.
We reserve the right to refuse participants who work for competitors (e.g., game resellers), and registration will include disclosure of current employer. However, we will reserve the right to exclude or remove anyone advertising for other stores/firms or discussing politics. This will be a friendly forum.
There is danger involved working with the soldering wand so a waiver will be signed at registration time. We reserve the right to change terms as this will be our first class and will use it to firm up for future classes.
