Make a small soft-sculpture bird based on a real bird for Bird Collisions in the Anthropocene, a community art project. Learn about migratory birds in Connecticut & some of the perils they face, while we bird craft together. Our sculptures will become part of a travelling art exhibit of 10,000+ birds.
All ages & skill levels welcome! Get a drink & snack at the Best Video Coffee Wine Bar & Cafe and enjoy a wonderful evening of community-building crafting & environmental conservation. Free & open to the public.
In an effort to raise awareness about one of the leading causes of bird deaths, this conservation art project is making replicas of every bird killed from a window collision and collected on the streets of Chicago in 2023. Through crowdsourcing the crafting of these bird replicas, they will create a “carpet” of birds running over 300 feet in length. Using upcycled cloth and donated materials to create the birds, we invite citizens to help with the project through public workshops or from their own homes.
Hosted by Lights Out Connecticut, a nonprofit project of Menunkatuck Audubon Society.
