Being the adventures of a young man...who loved a bit of the old ultra-violence...went to jail, was brain washed...and came out cured...or was he? In a futuristic welfare state, Alex (Malcolm McDowell), a vicious young hoodlum, sleeps all day and spends his nights roaming the city with his droogs (friends), assaulting innocent people in the streets and in their homes. Finally captured by the police, Alex undergoes rehabilitation in the form of aversion therapy as brutal and horrifying as any of his offenses.

Im London der Zukunft sorgt der junge Alex mit seiner Gang für Randale. Nach seiner Ergreifung muss er als Versuchskaninchen für kriminalistische Heilmethoden herhalten. Wieder in Freiheit fällt der seiner Aggressivität beraubte Alex einem seiner früheren Opfer in die Hände. Alex' "Heilung" wird wieder rückgängig gemacht, und er ist der gleiche Schläger wie zuvor. Meisterregisseur Kubricks zynisch-brillante Zukunftssatire über eine Welt, in der der Mensch restlos manipulierbar geworden ist. Der filmische Geniestreich, der wegen seiner ballettartig ästhetisierten Gewaltszenen schockiert, gilt als Meilenstein der Filmgeschichte.
