On Sunday, August 10th, Prisoners’ Justice Day, please join us at The Seahorse for our second “Sounds of Solidarity” fundraiser show! Starting at 7 pm (with doors opening at 6 pm), this will be an impactful night of music, community, and advocacy- featuring performances from BETHANY, The Dusty Halos, and Koromanti and The North Star- in support of those marginalized by criminalization and incarceration. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
About Prisoners’ Justice Day: Prisoners’ Justice Day, held on August 10th each year, is an important day for us at the Elizabeth Fry Society of Mainland Nova Scotia, East Coast Prison Justice Society, PATH Legal, and John Howard Society of Nova Scotia. First established in 1975, following the August 10th, 1974 death of prisoner Eddie Nalon in the segregation unit of Millhaven Maximum Security Prison in Bath, Ontario, Prisoners’ Justice Day is a time to remember, and bring awareness to, all those who have died unnatural deaths inside Canadian prisons, along with supporting and advocating for those who are currently impacted by criminalization and incarceration.
Creating space for not only entertainment, but also connection, education, and awareness-building, this is an event that you won't want to miss.
