Sometimes the world begins to sound a little different — as if an invisible melody appears in the air.
Mikhail Basov knows how to hear it — in the intertwining of order and chance — and turns that sound into cinema, where everything, from movement to its shadow, becomes part of the story.
His films don’t tell; they happen — quietly, precisely, as if the frames discover themselves.
This is a rare and little-studied field of subjective experimental “documentary,” where trust in chance becomes a special form of poetry.
Each film is like a game, where the unpredictable sets the rhythm, and the viewer suddenly hears what usually goes unnoticed.
