In the times we are living in, it seems maybe more important than ever to be able to slow down, listen and connect more deeply within and without, in order to consciously choose our paths forward, and to give our lives more fully to that which feels truly important.
For thousands of years people have done this by walking by themselves into wilder places, stepping away from the usual comforts, distractions and busy-ness of life. In the Nordic tradition this has been in the form of udesidning or ’sitout’.
In this way people have entered into deeper relationship with the more-than-human world, to find more clarity and connection, to be with the questions life stirs up, or to ceremonially mark significant life transitions or new directions. Even though people walk out alone, the communal part of preparing together and returning to the human community is just as important. The human community has been weaving and re-weaving their connection with each other and with the wild land.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
On this 5-day programme we will come together as a small group and enter a ceremonial space. Through listening to ourselves, each other, stories and the land, you will tune into what feels particularly important or alive for you at this time in your life. You will then take this out with you into 24 hours in nature without human company, and away from the comforts and distractions of daily life. Traditionally this has been done through fasting from food, and, it may be that your quest calls for something different. You will return to share the story of your experience with the group, and we will help you to see your individual narrative in a wider context, together with the gifts and implications for the life you return to.

Dates: 27th August at 11:00 - 31st August at 13:00
Place: Jamborettepladsen, Rold Skov. We will all be sleeping in our own tents.
Money:
We really want to offer this work/ceremony outside of a capitalist/commodity logic. And we each long to do more of this work, which is more possible when it also meets our financial needs. We are therefore offering this on a donation basis, which means that anyone can join, no matter their financial situation. Additionally, we ask you to consider what feels wholeheartedly good to give.
A suggested donation is 2000-7000 kr. If it feels overwhelming to choose, start somewhere in the middle of that. If that feels like a big stretch in your financial situation, go down until it feels good. If it feels cheap, go up until it feels generous. And know that paying more than your part allows other people who don’t have the means to pay what they are able to.
There is no easy way to be with money, ceremony and doing the work that is important to us. This is an experiment, and thank you for engaging. Let’s continue the conversation.

About the guides:
Anna Nyskov Irgens-Møller (Wild Being): is a gatherer of people, and a weaver of human and other-than-human communities. Anna is trained in anthropology, outdoor education (friluftsliv), nature-based rites of passage (School of Lost Borders), Ways of Council (circle work), and has worked for School of All Relations and Kaospilots. Mostly though, they have their learnings from experiences of love and loss and connection and disconnection and from engaging deeply with communities, relationships and the natural world.
Iona Dalglish (Living Stories) - I am a listener, both by nature and by training (coaching and nature-based rites of passage guide with Wild Rites, UK). I listen with a focus on signs of life, freedom and wholeness and also for things that might be getting in the way of those. I am also a story-teller and story-lover. I am especially curious about what happens when we give our attention to the stories of our lives (inner and outer), stories from (experiences of) the natural world, and the predominantly oral storytelling traditions of our cultures and peoples (especially my own heritage, Celtic, and my newly adopted home culture, Nordic - which it turns out have a lively set of connections with each other!).
