There’s something deeply comforting about a good book and a warm cup of tea and even more so when the tea itself is part of the story.
We’re excited to invite you to our very first themed book club, held in the cosy surrounds of Night Owl Books and hosted in collaboration with local tea tasting company Chiya & Chai.
Together, we’ll be discussing The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See, a beautifully layered novel set in the tea-growing mountains of Yunnan, China. At the heart of the story is Pu’erh tea, steeped in generations of tradition, resilience, and cultural heritage.
To bring the story to life, we’ll taste two distinctive teas from Yunnan, thoughtfully chosen to echo the world of the book. As we sip, we’ll reflect on how tea connects to Li-Yan’s journey, her Akha roots, and the novel’s themes of identity, belonging, and self-discovery.
What’s included
– Guided tasting of two Yunnan teas
– Informal book club discussion
– A warm, bookshop setting after hours
*The ticket price includes a copy of the book. You will be contacted when your book is ready to collect from Night Owl Books in East Linton. If you already have the book, you will receive a £9.99 voucher to spend at Night Owl Books instead.
