We welcome cellist Bryan Wilson to our Sunday service as the next installment of the Summer Music Series.

Bryan Wilson, cello
Bryan Charles Wilson, a cellist, composer, educator, and author hailing from New Jersey, USA, is a versatile musician known for his soulful cello compositions. Blending drum beats and synthesizers into his evocative pieces, he specializes in improvisation across genres, seamlessly navigating classical, rock, hip-hop, and electro music landscapes. His musical journey showcases an impressive array of experiences and releases.

In 2022, Bryan earned his Masters of Music in Multi-Style Strings Performance from New Jersey City University, studying under the guidance of Grammy-winning Multi-Style Cellist, Dave Eggar. Prior to this, he obtained his BFA in Cello Performance and Music Composition from the California Institute of the Arts in 2011, mentored by the renowned contemporary classical music performer, Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick.

From 2011 to 2017, Bryan served as the cellist/composer for the post-rock band, You Bred Raptors?, touring extensively across the United States and Canada, garnering attention from prestigious media outlets. His venture into the world music/electronic fusion band, Amalgamy, commenced in 2018 with the release of their debut album, Cynefin.

Beyond performance, Bryan's prowess as a sought-after session player is evident through his collaborations with various artists, contributing captivating cello recordings to numerous projects. His proficiency extends to his role as an author, having penned three influential books exploring contemporary compositions, chordal possibilities, and educational resources for string players.

As an esteemed music educator, Bryan has shared his expertise at institutions such as the Community Arts Partnership Music Program at California Institute of the Arts, the Paramus Community School, and The Village School in Waldwick, NJ. Offering private cello lessons worldwide, he instills a strong classical foundation while nurturing students' improvisational skills and familiarity with contemporary musical styles.
