We are so pleased to welcome our own Anne and Stephen Paynter to share their musical gifts.
Anne Paynter
Anne Paynter, originally from Atlanta GA, holds a Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Converse College, and a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from The University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. She has taught Choral Music and a variety of other music classes at Hawthorne Christian Academy for 15 years, leading groups to over 70 first place and gold medal awards, and performing in such prestigious concert halls as Carnegie Hall in NYC and the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville. In addition to school music education, Mrs. Paynter has taught private voice lessons for over 30 years, sending students on to major music schools such as Juilliard, Boston Conservatory, NYU, and Manhattan School of Music, and to careers in opera, on Broadway, and in music education. She has adjudicated a wide variety of festivals and competitions, served as a clinician at music festivals, and written articles and commentaries for various music publications. As a soprano, Mrs. Paynter has won several state and national competitions, and performed with Atlanta Opera, The Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati, and as a studio demo singer.
Stephen Paynter, originally from Stroudsburg PA, has been singing 1st Tenor in the Metropolitan Opera Chorus for 25 years. He is also Assistant Chorus Manager for the Met and has performed over 100 solo roles on the Met stage. Mr. Paynter holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from James Madison University, and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. Mr. Paynter has won local and state competitions and has performed with such organizations as Cincinnati Opera and The Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati. He has worked as a studio singer for publishing companies and has taught private voice lessons for over 30 years, with students progressing on to major music schools such as Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music and Cincinnati Conservatory, and to careers both in opera and on Broadway.
