What is it? Since 2006, the South African Food & Wine Festival has been a two day, annual celebration of the wine, food, music and culture of South Africa held on a "wine farm" in central Virginia, USA.
What is it like? A gathering of amazing people eager to share the magic of their homeland of South Africa and more amazing people eager to experience new things, taste exceptional wine, eat delicious food, listen to great music, spend time with family and friends... and make new friends. It's joyful, it's relaxed, people are really friendly, you can feel the love as friends and acquaintances connect & reconnect with smiles, hugs and high-fives.
What's new for 2025? Have you ever heard of a Buzz Bar? No, it doesn't have anything to do with alcohol. It's the safety bar on a roller coaster, the one that goes across your lap and keeps you from becoming a projectile, hurling off into the sky at 100 miles an hour. So, that's what we're hanging onto right now as current events, news headlines, tariffs and 401K's fly past us at break-neck speed. The winemakers are coming, no they aren't yes they are etc etc. The wine will be here. Ok, maybe. Well, some wine? Yes, it will all be $1,000 a bottle. Whaaat? No, just kidding.
We don't have the answers right now but here's what we do know:
WE'RE DOING IT! So start figuring out what you're going to wear and who's driving this time.
There will be great South African Wine, undoubtedly things you've never tried before.
Olivier will be there. Because he wouldn't miss it and also because he made us push the date a little further into hurricane territory. So, the most South African wine knowledgeable Frenchman on the planet is definitely IN.
Deon, our resident South African, is definitely IN, as is the whole cast and crew of the Grayhaven show.
