Counting Down To September 14th For A Shutdown In Cape Town.
It will be the first of its kind as our invite is expected to be an open one and not limited to industry professionals (same will be of our next project in Nigeria) to announce our presence and the intention to do things differently from the norm.
We'll also be making ourselves and firm African Gist Productions, open to public scrutiny after the event. As the event entails more than just a film launch and Premiere, but also fundraising for the next projects.
Having spent a bit above 200,000 USD (3.6 Million Rand/ 308 Million Naira) in the production of Hidden Agenda and The Chaos Theory from the pockets of our executive producers (Paul Iwuchukwu and Nzube Okafor) due to the lack of a previous project as a reference to secure funding from the South African Department of Trade and Industry.
It was quite a challenge as our company had no initial equipment for film shooting, outside of our normal equipment for event coverage, so we had to purchase all the needed equipment without a lease.
These additional expenditures to the initial budget of 100, 000 USD for both films, skyrocketed our film budget to what it is currently, not adding our post-production expenditure and cost of our upcoming event to the film budget.
When it is taken into account that our mission statement covers the necessity for such expenditure as we are trailblazing a path that has never been boldly walked on, to create opportunities for immigrants which would be extended to home countries, our joy becomes visible, irrespective of the overwhelming budget.
We are looking forward to this event that will bring together, the Nigerian community in South Africa with the host community and other immigrants from diverse backgrounds, under one umbrella to share in a common goal and collectively curtail the immigration crisis that has left many people stranded in the country without documents.
The general public remains our backbone on this mission and your support will make our vision clearer.
