When I started Doodad Farm in 2011 with the help of friends and family, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t use the farm to promote my own musical ambitions, with a couple of exceptions. One was that I would occasionally perform as part of a tribute or open for bands that request me to do so. The other was that I would allow myself a feature show if I ever released an album. I did that in 2013 for my “Late Bloomer” album, and I’ve finally decided to host another release party for my latest album, “For All I Know.” It was a tough decision for lots of reasons I won’t go into, but I’m going for it due to the encouragement of others.
I recorded the album at Good Luck Studio in Chapel Hill, with the super capable FJ Ventre doing the engineering, and Barry Gray, the most supportive man on earth, producing. A bunch of great artists joined me, most notably my daughter Riley, Barry, FJ, Cliff Greeson, Sam Frazier, Joe Kollar and Claire Byrnes of Driftwood, and others. I’m thrilled with the album, and I hope it brings a little joy into the world.
For the show, I have some of the album artists joining me and a few other fine musicians stepping up to fill out the songs. The lineup includes: Riley Driver, FJ Ventre, Barry Gray, Isabel Valls, Cliff Greeson, Jack Gorham, and Tim Fogarty.
If you want a preview of the album, just search for Dean Driver on Spotify, Apple Music, or any of the platforms out there.
Opening the show will be BARRY GRAY and ISABELL VALLS, one of the finest duos you’ve ever heard.
HOW TO JOIN US:
You never need a ticket or a reservation to attend one of our concerts - just show up. If we had a gate, it would open at 2pm. Feel free to show up earlier than that, even, if you just want to enjoy the weather, have a picnic, or just hang out (though we may ask you to help set up!). The show will start at 3pm.
We’d appreciate donations if you’re able to do so, with all funds going to the artists on stage. We’ll also have CDs for purchase.
