Ryan Casey - From cherry to cup: The journey of coffee with Downriver Coffee Roasters
Ryan Casey moved from New York to Scotland in 2015 and made Greenock her home in 2022. She previously worked as a barista in New York City where she learned about quality and social responsibility in coffee. That knowledge, passion, and curiosity stayed with her.
After leaving her academic career behind in 2023, she got certified in coffee roasting by the Speciality Coffee Association via the London School of Coffee.
Ryan then started Downriver Coffee Roasters in 2024 as a specialty coffee roastery based right here in Inverclyde. Downriver is based on the idea that coffee should be transparently sourced, carefully roasted in small batches, and consistently delicious. Her roastery is focussed on drinkable, approachable coffees for everyone to enjoy.
