Butoh & Noguchi Taiso
Movement Fundamentals
6-week series with Zazie Tobey
Sundays 1 - 3 pm
June 1 - July 13 (No class June 15)
.
Immerse yourself in the world of Butoh and Noguchi taiso.
.
Created in 1959 by Tatsu Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno, Butoh is an avant garde dance form that is rich in imagination. Around the same time, Michizo Noguchi developed a type of gymnastics based on moving like water, using your own body weight and little to no muscle.
.
Join us for this 6-week series, where together we will warm up our bodies with the basic fundamentals of Noguchi taiso, and then explore Butoh using imagery, visceral awareness, and improvisation. Each class builds on the previous, becoming more challenging as we progress.
.
Be ready to move in ways you have never before and find your own true dance. No prior dance or Butoh experience necessary.
.
Cost is $115 - 165 for the 6-week series ~or~ $20 - 30 per single class. Payments can be made via Venmo to @Zazie-Tobey
