Our next 4th Friday Contra for Experienced Dancers on October 24, 2025, on August 22nd, will feature caller Lisa Greenleaf with the band Springtide.
Lisa Greenleaf needs little introduction to the contra world. She is one of the busiest callers there is, traveling throughout the country to dances and dance weekends and camps. Lisa is known for her excellent programming, impeccable teaching and wonderful sense of humor.
We are delighted to have Springtide play for our series for the first time. Springtide is Elsie Gawler (cello), Ethan Tischler (guitar), and Willy Clemetson (fiddle) - musicians, songwriters and emissaries of the Mid-Coast Maine fiddling scene. They combine a love of high energy traditional Celtic and Scandinavian fiddle music, rocking original tunes, and spacious creative improvisation to produce this unique trio.

You know how to do a roll away, hey for four, California twirl, contra corners, pass through to a wave, box circulate, mad robin, and basic moves without teaching.
You know where to be at the start of each dance phrase and assist your partner and neighbor to the next move.
You execute flourishes safely and on time without disturbing others.
Your dancing supports and enhances the experience of all through shared weight, good timing and respectful connections.
You know how to recover from a lapse and you respond to confusion and missteps, by yourself and others, with grace, encouragement and good humor.
