New Heavy Rescue Push-In Ceremony

In recognition of National Fire Prevention Week, the City of Green Fire Division invites the community to a Push-In Ceremony for the new Heavy Rescue Truck and Open House on Saturday, October 11, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Green Fire Station #1, 4200 Massillon Road. The push-in ceremony begins at 10 a.m.

This public event marks the official addition of the department’s new Heavy Rescue Truck, replacing a 25+ year-old vehicle. Community members are encouraged to attend and take part in the traditional “push-in” ceremony, a symbolic fire service ritual dating back to when horse-drawn fire equipment was manually pushed into bays.

The event will include safety education, children’s activities, fire equipment displays, and a Touch-a-Truck experience. Light refreshments will be provided.

Parking is available at the Fire Station via the Steese Road entrance. The event will be held in the service bays—please dress appropriately for the weather.
