Museum Kids - Tornadoes in a Bottle

Step into the world of swirling storms!

Kids will create their very own tornado-in-a-bottle by first gluing tiny houses to the “ground.” Next, they’ll choose from a selection of objects—like animals, toys, or everyday items—that they think might get swept up if a tornado spun through their neighborhood. With a little creative “magic” and some glue, the bottles will come together into mini-twisters that spin with every shake.

This hands-on project is not only fun but also sparks conversations about weather, imagination, and storytelling—giving each child the chance to design a tornado that’s uniquely their own.

Artist Bio:

Becky Hinch is a fine art photographer and storyteller who loves weaving creativity, play, and imagination into her work. With a background in capturing people’s stories through her lens, she believes art should be both meaningful and fun. In her work, Becky loves mixing thoughtful storytelling with playful details—sometimes that means sparkles, sometimes props, and sometimes a brand-new activity dreamed up for kids. No matter the form, her goal is always the same: to celebrate creativity and capture the joy in every story.
