ALL WE IMAGINE AS LIGHT (India, 2024) – Thursday, December 4, D100, 7:00pm

Two roommates work as nurses at a Mumbai hospital, and gradually find their lives intertwined with a cook who works there too. Together, they form a support system that is as much a tribute to the opportunities of city life as it is a response to overwhelming urban pressures. Payal Kapadia brings her background in documentaries to this, her first fiction film, with extraordinary results. Grand Prix winner at the Cannes Film Festival; Golden Globe nominee for Best Director and Non-English Language Film; NY Times critic Manohla Dargis named it #1 in her end-of-year list, calling it “flat-out wonderful”.
