The Town of Gray is once again offering residents and property owners a safe and convenient way to dispose of household hazardous waste. The annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection event will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Salt & Sand Shed on Seagull Drive.
This event is exclusively for Gray residents and property owners, and proof of residency is required to participate.
Accepted materials include a wide range of household chemicals and automotive products such as:
Cleaners and disinfectants (ammonia, bleach, oven cleaners, etc.)
Lawn and garden chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides)
Automotive fluids and products (gasoline, degreasers, engine cleaners)
Paint-related materials (lacquer paints, thinners, wood preservatives)
Residents are reminded not to mix waste materials and to use original containers when possible. All hazardous items should be transported outside the passenger compartment of vehicles for safety.
In addition to the one-day event, the Gray Transfer Station accepts several items year-round, including:
Motor oil, antifreeze, and other automotive fluids
Paints and stains in original containers
Propane tanks (30 gallons and under)
Electronics, rechargeable batteries, and fluorescent bulbs
However, some items are strictly prohibited at both the collection event and the Gray Transfer Station. These include:
Medical or biological waste
Ammunition, explosives, and fireworks
Radioactive materials and asbestos
