Get ready to immerse yourself in a magical, creative experience at the Graton Town Square! Join us for a journey through the Re-Storyation Labyrinth where visions of the future come to life. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to be part of a one-of-a-kind community created art experience!
Details
A three circuit Labyrinth made of timber rounds and poles harvested during forestry restoration work at a local property within the Green Valley watershed will be co-created in the Graton Town Square.
Community will be invited to join for all parts of this project, connecting origin of materials to the art that they become. There will be two days of forestry/material harvest (July 21-22) and two days of labyrinth installation at Graton Town Square (July 24-25), with a final unveiling party on July 26 - the same day as the Summer BBQ and Lawn Chair Cinema evening event at the Graton Town Square.
Check out the multiple ticket types to sign up for one, or several, opportunities to be involved in this awe-inspiring, large format public art installation.
Project Overview
This project is multi-purpose. The purpose of the labyrinth is to offer an anchor point and a refuge for finding grounding, peace, harmony, and centeredness. The material chosen is timber needing to be removed from a very untended, wildfire-risk forest.
The concept of Social Forestry is an undercurrent theme here, tied to the understanding that Restoration work is a Re-storyation of relationship to place - physical, social, & spiritual - which opens up the opportunity to heal breaks and envision new stories of the future connected to the past.
