More about our speaker Courtney Johnson:
Courtney Johnson began playing pickleball in 2012 and became a USA Pickleball Ambassador in 2017, driven by a passion to grow the sport. Recognizing a need for officials, they became a Certified Referee in 2018 and have since officiated for MLP, PPA, APP, USA Pickleball, and high-profile events like the Pickleball Slam series featuring legends like Agassi and McEnroe.
As a Registered Referee Trainer, Courtney helped educate aspiring officials in North Texas and has served as Referee Coordinator for tournaments ranging from 200 to 1,500 players, including the Texas Open since its inception.
In 2022, Courtney became the Director of Officiating for Major League Pickleball and, in 2024, accepted the role of Head of Competition. In this capacity, they oversee officiating, manage rules and team handbooks, coordinate match schedules, and collaborate with PPA to align standards across leagues.A proud Texan, Courtney lives in Rowlett with their family and enjoys traveling the country doing what they love.
