You can’t fix what you don’t know about~
Are you aware that our Libraries are still at risk?
This is not a time to relax~ Your support is needed to help avoid eviction of the Library!
The county commissioners’ statements are inconsistent about when they will consider and decide the future lease agreement that was negotiated by the library team and Commissioner Chris Barnett.
August 14, Anne Basker Auditorium, 10:00 AM
Will a vote be made at this meeting? Maybe, maybe not~
There will be a commissioner meeting to consider their options regarding the future of the library. Barnett is scheduled to present the lease agreement draft. Past experiences and patterns of behavior indicate that the commissioners have a habit of presenting and approving agenda items at the same time. (This was the case in the matter of interest in free loans to the airport.)
It appears that the original intention of the commissioners was to vote on the lease agreement for the library at the August 14, 2025, meeting. However, Blech has stated he is “setting the expectation” that the vote will be on August 21st. This is very concerning and confusing for citizens who want to voice their concerns.
The purpose and goal of public meetings is to offer clear and reliable facts on meetings and agendas so the public to be able to attend and offer public comments on important issues. There are state requirements for posting notices and agendas that are specifically intended to inform the public in a timely manner for them to be able to participate in our local governance. Clarity and consistency are important factors in notifications,.
We ask supporters of our Library to continue to voice their opinions and concerns to the commissioners with calls, emails, and weekly meeting speakers, all of which are on the public record. Your voices matter and are stronger when we come together as a community in support of our libraries and other quality of life issues in our community.
How can you help?
If possible, attend the August 14th commissioner meeting in person. If you cannot attend, please take the time to voice your opinion via email or phone.
