FUNHOUSE SPEED DATING INFORMATION
Private Social Match Making Event for Registered Participants
WHEN: Held on select Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, from 700pm to 1030pm.
WHERE: 9818-105 Street, Grande Prairie, AB | @ The Funhouse
HOW: UV glow mini golf, eighteen 7-minute dates. Social afterwards.
DRESS CODE: Smart casual dress code. No sweat/yoga pants or work attire. Get dressed or dolled up. Footwear must be clean and free from mud or snow.
AGE CATEGORIES : 20 to 30, 25 to 35, 30 to 40, 35 to 45, 40 to 50, 45 to 55, 50 to 60, 60+. Please note: 1 -2 year grace can be given on either end of age group.
COST: Event cost is $52.50 (includes GST). Once enough singles register in an age category, date will be set and notice via e-mail will be sent out for payment information. Seat must be paid to confirm your seat.
REGISTRATION CLOSES 72 HOURS BEFORE THE EVENT.
IF THERE ARE NOT 18F/18M WITH CONFIRMED PAID SEATS, THE EVENT WILL BE BE RESCHEDULED. Anyone with a paid seat will have first dibs on the next date for that age category.
What is Speed Dating?
Speed dating is a very simple way for a group of single men and women to meet and connect with each other in a fun, fast and exciting way. Perhaps one of the greatest benefits is that it tears down the walls of shyness. Many people have deep-seated anxiety when it comes to talking to people they don’t know. We bust down that shyness door like the Kool-Aid man with ice breaker questions that you pick if stage fright kicks in. You get to explore the space of conversation and get to know the other person in a deeper, more meaningful way, than just the typical small talk. After the 7 minutes, you will have a good idea if you would like to continue the conversation and go on another date!
Still not sure? Please keep in mind that the purpose is twofold: to have fun and meet other singles. That’s all. Don’t make it any more than that, and you’re likely to have a good time. And at less than $4 per date, it’s an incredible value!
How does Speed Dating work at The Funhouse?
To make sure the event runs smoothly, there are certain rules all participants need to follow – otherwise we can’t maximize your experience for the evening.
All participants will have to complete their registration form and purchase their admission 72 hours before the event. Upon check in, registration info will be verified. You will receive a snazzy name tag and your scorecard.
Participants will be allowed to check in up to 45 minutes before the event begins to socialize. At 700pm, participants will go into the mini golf and start at their predetermined golf hole.
Every round will run for 7 minutes, which should give you a chance to learn some key information about that person and determine whether there might be a spark of attraction there.
Once time is up, a horn will sound, and participants will rotate as directed by the host and the next round begins. Remember to take time at the start of each round to write down the name next to their ID number on the scorecard. At the end of the round, mark off if you felt it was a good match or not. Once you’ve spoken to everyone, that’s it, you’re done. Make sure your scorecard is filled out correctly, hand it back to our host before leaving the venue and leave the rest to us.
Rules of Speed Dating at The Funhouse
o Participants will have to show proof of identity.
o Be on time and be present. Phones are to be put into airplane mode while in the course.
o Comply with the dress code.
o Asking for personal information such as last name or phone number of other participants is forbidden.
o Discrimination will not be tolerated during our events. Bottom line, be respectful, even if you’re not interested in the person, be kind. In turn, lewd language and sexually explicit questions will not be tolerated as well.
o Taking photos or videos is not allowed at Speed Dating events held at The Funhouse.
o IF AT ANY POINT A PARTICIPANT BECOMES INTOXICATED BEFORE OR DURING THE EVENT, they will be asked to leave and will be banned from attending any further speed dating / friending events held at The Funhouse.
What’s next?
When the actual speed dating event is over it doesn’t mean your night has to be! Doors close at 1030pm, so feel free to stay for a drink and more conversation.
When participants choose each other, then it’s a match! Within 48 hours, we will send an email with exciting news about your potential matches from our speed dating event.
Once you receive the email, the rest is up to you to arrange a date with anyone you met that night. Not to worry if you didn’t meet anyone special that night though, there are always plenty more speed dating nights where you could meet your match!
