STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics! This is a field of observations, thinking critically, innovating, improving, and evaluating.
Get curious about this wide-reaching field of study with That One Team robotics club, solar telescopes with Planetarium staff, and other hands-on activities.
At 11 a.m., Josh Freeney, the GRPM’s Senior Vice President of Digital Strategy, will lead a live demonstration with a cool new program called ab1.bot (Artifact Builder 1). Artifact Builder 1 allows users to author and modify their own digital artifacts in a web browser, creating interactive virtual exhibits with text, imagery, 3D, links to sources, and more. With ab1.bot, the launch of PublicOS, and engaging new programming, GRPM is redefining the future of digital learning in museums.
Catch the demo on the Museum’s 3rd floor by the Michigan Map! See this technology in action and discover how it can be used to create documentary maps to tell local stories.
About Summer Saturdays: Summer Saturdays expand engagement opportunities at the GRPM to beat the heat inside the Museum or to embrace the heat by exploring the downtown corridor with us. In addition to the blockbuster Sharks exhibit, visitors can explore special themed activities almost every Saturday from June 14 to August 16. Each Summer Saturday focuses on a specific area of science, history, and culture, bringing a different theme and perspective to Museum guests. Mark your calendars to join us for summer fun!
