What’s This All About?
This session is for artists, designers, creatives and anyone with an idea to activate Downtown spaces. Whether you're new to placemaking or ready to apply for an Activate Grant, we’ll walk you through the process, show you examples of past projects and give tips to make your proposal stand out.

About the Speaker:
Katie Moore is the Activation Manager at Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. and an artist passionate about public art and local placemaking. She’s worked with creators from around the world to bring large-scale art to life.
About World of Winter:
World of Winter is a two-month festival that turns Downtown into a winter playground with large-scale, interactive installations and events for all ages. Last year brought over 4.3 million visits downtown!
We’re now accepting proposals for 2026. If you’ve got a big idea that lights up the night, interacts with people, and survives a Michigan winter, we want to see it.
