As the days become shorter and the nights become longer, we go from enjoying the light of the sun to channeling our own light within to make it through the darkest part of the year. Drawing on your inner light as the winter solstice approaches involves aligning with the natural cycle of rest, reflection, and renewal. Just as the sun's light begins its rest, allowing night to take over the majority of our day, you can cultivate and nurture your own inner light to carry you through the darker months.
As a community, we will settle into a cozy, candlelit space and invite introspection and stillness. Allowing sweet and supportive yoga postures to aid us in releasing anything no longer serving us and renewing our commitment to self-love and compassion. Understanding that we are of nature and embracing the cycles of our growth and rest because aligning with the natural world can help us ground ourselves and strengthen our spirit. With less sunlight during these days, focusing on self-care is essential for sustaining your physical and spiritual well-being.
This offering will begin with ceremonial cacao but if you prefer to bring your own beverage, such as tea, please do! The beans are purchased from Atucún Chocolatería, located in Comayagua, Honduras. Atucún works directly with various cacao producers located throughout Honduras, and the cacao trees are grown sustainably in polyculture. The beans are then roasted and refined into cacao by Ryan DeLuca in Grand Rapids, MI. Cacao is pure chocolate and medicinal for our whole selves, mind, body, and spirit. It is a natural heart opener, and we will use it intentionally in our meditation practice to deepen the experience. Cacao is also a superfood that increases blood flow throughout our body, lowers blood pressure, and helps tissue cells receive nutrients to heal.
After receiving the Cacao, Emily will guide you into sweet and relaxing restorative postures while Liberty provides healing sounds and vibrations via crystal bowls, chimes and various instruments to inspire relaxation and peace. Restorative yoga poses are completely supported by the floor and made comfortable by the use of blankets and bolsters. This yoga is sweet and accessible for all activity levels.
A sound bath helps quiet the mind by shifting your focus from constant thoughts to soothing sounds. This deep listening activates the parasympathetic nervous system—your body’s natural rest-and-recharge mode—which supports healing, relaxation, and recovery.
Most of us only access this healing state during sleep, so spending 90 minutes in a sound bath gives your body extra time to restore and reset. Through carefully layered tones, harmonies, and instruments like crystal bowls and soft rain sounds, your body begins to "tune" itself into balance.
Many people report better sleep, reduced stress, and a deep sense of calm that can last for days afterward. It’s a powerful and peaceful reset for the mind, body, and spirit.
Please be there at least 15 minutes early and consider bringing your own mug as we are trying to reduce our waste! Bring all the items that will bring you comfort. A yoga mat, blanket, crystals, and eye pillows are all great options!
$40 per person
