A little history...
Hip Hop began in the early 1970s in the Bronx, New York, created by Black and Latino youth as a powerful form of expression, joy, and community. It started with DJing, MCing, breaking, graffiti, and dance, growing from neighborhood block parties into a global cultural movement.
Hip Hop dance is rooted in social dances, freestyle, and individuality, with styles like breaking, popping, locking, house, and party dances emerging throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Each era brought new moves, new music, and new ways to tell a story through movement.
