Two of South Africa’s most celebrated guitarists, Dan Patlansky and Guy Buttery, are set to make their long-awaited debut in Bushmans River Mouth, with an exclusive performance at the Town Hall — marking the first time either artist has played in the area.
This special show forms part of their national collaborative tour, which has been captivating audiences across the country with its rare fusion of fiery blues-rock and boundary-pushing acoustic artistry. Between them, the two have toured the world, released acclaimed albums, and earned a reputation as true masters of their craft. They first met in their twenties as “two young guitar nerds” at a festival and have remained close musical allies ever since. Now, fourteen years later, they’ve reunited on stage — performing brand-new material, reinvented favourites, and unexpected collaborations that showcase both their distinct styles and shared musical chemistry.

Patlansky, renowned for his electrifying guitar work and raw vocal power, has released 11 studio albums and twice earned the title of #1 Blues Rock Album in the World (Blues Rock Review USA). His latest record, Movin’ On (2024), was named #3 Blues Rock Album of the Year. Buttery, often described as a national treasure, is a multi-instrumentalist whose expressive performances have taken him to more than ten countries. He’s a multiple South African Music Award winner who has collaborated with icons such as Dave Matthews, Salif Keita, and Vusi Mahlasela.
