Prepare for Birth Workshop - Sunday 13th July Glangrwyney Village Hall
From "I hope this goes okay" to "We've got this" - that's the shift I want for every couple expecting a baby.
During my training and experiencing 3 of my own births I've noticed a clear pattern: couples who walk into birth feeling prepared handle challenges completely differently than those who just hope for the best.
What I see in practice:
Most couples arrive at birth feeling unprepared for the realities. Partners often feel like passengers rather than participants, and knowledge gaps create unnecessary anxiety.
But here's what I've learned - simple techniques can transform your entire experience, and every birth benefits from preparation whether it's vaginal, cesarean, or takes an unexpected turn.
The missing piece:
After studying birth physiology and optimal positioning, I realised something crucial: it's not just about the birthing person - it's about the TEAM. I've experienced my partner stand helplessly in the background, simply because no one taught him what actually helps.
Sound familiar?
- "What if I can't handle the pain?" / "What if something goes wrong?"
- "I don't want to say the wrong thing" / "What if I'm useless?"
- Feeling overwhelmed by conflicting advice
- Your partner hovering uncertainly during practice contractions
- Both of you feeling underprepared
The transformation:
Instead of partners pacing around, feeling helpless during this magical but intense experience, imagine this: Your partner looking into your eyes, saying 'nothing' but it feeling like 'everything' because they instinctively know how to help you through a strong contraction. You feel confident asking for what you need. You both stay calm when plans change because you've learnt the tools.
After the workshop, you'll both feel:
- Prepared for the unexpected (not just the plan)
- Equipped with techniques that actually work
- Connected as a birth team
- Ready to welcome your baby from a place of confidence
Your partner will know exactly where to apply counter-pressure, how to read your cues and respond instinctively, and can confidently guide you into positions that actually provide relief.
This isn't about perfect births - it's about prepared parents. That's not luck - that's preparation.
