In this new exploration Tian Rotteveel, composer and dancer based in Berlin, is researching states of resistance and rage. Testing different forms of resistance and how they can mobilize. Where one is the desire to be loud, immersive, to be noise, to move and confuse. And on the other hand the need for tender and honest connections, radiating joyous and abounding life. The Punk and the Hippy as political lives.



About the artist:

Tian Rotteveel is a Berlin-based composer, performer and choreographer. He studied music composition the Royal Conservatory in the Netherlands and dance and choreography at HZT in Berlin. In his practice, he defines sound and movement as a form of mobilization. He develops regenerative dance and sound practices that often come from following the odd-logic of sound. In his understanding, movement is a phenomena that can materialize in meaning, but also can materialize into mere sensations and affect. Tian has worked as composer with music ensembles such as MAE ensemble, Rosas ensemble, Tian worked both as composer and performer with choreographers such as Claire Vivianne Sobottke, Jeanine Durning, Jeremy Wade, Tino Sehgal, Michael Turinksy, Martin Nachbar, and others. He is making dances and installations since 2011.
