Welcome to CSDA's first ever contact improv Workshop with Deborah Buchinger!
In this workshop we will explore movement as a form of communication. Starting with a short warm-up sequence that is followed by an introduction to the basics of contact improvisation, we then move on to playing with different movement qualities and prompts to break our habits and find new, interesting ways to use our bodies and build a dialogue. The workshop will end with a jam, where the participants can use what they learned during the class.
Most importantly though, we want to have fun and move together! The workshop is a safe space to experiment, fail, and learn.
Be sure to wear comfortable clothing (e.g. sweatpants and a T-shirt) and bring some water (and maybe a towel, if you sweat easily). We dance in socks or barefoot.
Q&A
Who is our teacher Deborah?
I studied contemporary dance in Munich and have been teaching dance for the past ten years. As a dancer, Iâm constantly trying to learn new things and to stay curious about the world. I like contact improvisation, because I value the connection with other humans I can build during it.
