Join us for a gentle autumnal walk followed by nature journaling in the beautiful Gosforth Nature Reserve.

About this Event

Key Information

Event Lead: Rachel Anderson

Event Length: Two hours

Meet at: Field Studies Room, Gosforth Nature Reserve

About this Course

Join us for a gentle guided walk through the beautiful autumn landscape of Gosforth Nature Reserve. Together, we’ll slow down and tune into the season using all our senses—taking in the colours, sounds, textures and scents of early autumn.

After the walk, we’ll gather for a creative journaling session where you can record your observations through words, sketches, or a mix of both. This mindful practice helps us connect more deeply with nature while exploring our own creativity.

No experience necessary – all materials (sketchbooks, pencils, paints) will be provided. Just bring yourself, comfortable clothing for the walk, and an openness to explore. Light refreshments (tea, coffee, biscuits) will also be provided.

We look forward to sharing this creative and restorative experience with you.

Facilitator: Mel, Creative Space North

Accessibility

The Field Studies Room is fully accessible, although there will be a guided walk around the reserve which would not be suitable for a wheelchair user.

About the Project

This event is facilitated by Nature's Cure in Time of Need: New Voices for North East Nature, a National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project dedicated to capturing stories about how nature has provided solace and strength during challenging times. The stories you submit as part of this project will form a new collection in NHSN's North East Nature Archive (NENA) housed here in the Great North Museum: Hancock. By preserving these personal narratives in the archive, the project ensures that future generations can connect with the ways nature has shaped and supported our communities. Through workshops, events, and storytelling, Nature’s Cure invites everyone to share their story.

Photos will be taken at this event to use on social media and in NHSN publicity material. If you would prefer not to be photographed please let us know at the start of the event.
