VE Day 80th Anniversary: A Moment of Shared Celebration

Join us at Howden Minster for a day of remembrance and celebration as we mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

ShAke will be serving up cream teas and local choirs will perform beloved wartime songs, filling the air with music that takes us back to those pivotal moments in history.

It’s a day to come together, reflect, and honour the courage and sacrifice that shaped our world. Let’s celebrate peace, unity, and the legacy of those who brought an end to the conflict.

9am Raising of the VE Day Flag

10am - Howden Junior School Choir

11am – Readings from Howden School

12pm – British Sign Language Choir

1pm – 1.30pm Jules Vintage Singer

2pm – 2.30pm Jules Vintage Singer

6.30pm - Minster bells ring out in celebration

9.15pm A short service of reflection, including the lighting of the Lamp Light of Peace and singing ‘I Vow To Thee My Country’.
