Please join us for our monthly membership meeting on August 19th, 2025, @ 6pm. This month we will be demonstrating how to use the clubs equipment to extract honey. We will cover the different tools available to use, and how to use them. The meeting will be held at the home of our equipment managers, Mark and Kim Melton, since we cannot gather at the Nature Center due to unforeseen circumstances. This is a great opportunity for our members to see what the club has to lend out, how to use it, and where to pick it up at. We will be spinning the 15 frames removed from the clubs hives earlier this month. Usually you want to remove enough frames from your colonies to justify using, and cleaning the equipment. But since the equipment will already need cleaning once we are finished, we are inviting anyone to bring just a few frames you may have that you want to extract. Bring your own bottles to put your honey in, and after each extraction we will empty the spinner, and then do the next batch. Once completed, we will go over the proper procedure for cleaning and storing the equipment.
Additionally, our very own Doug Palecki will explain the process he uses to infuse flavors into his honey, and he will have some samples to examine.
Meeting starts at 6 p.m. and begins with a brief discussion of current bee events, news, and member questions, followed by our monthly raffle. We ask that you please support the raffle as this is our way of funding the different things we do throughout the year such as speakers, the picnic, and our end of the year party. The club donates items to be raffled, members usually bring in things they may have purchased, extra beekeeping items you may have, or fresh eggs, jam, handmade crafts, etc. You purchase tickets, and then we raffle off the items.
This is intended for Pine River Beekeeping Club members but all are welcome to attend one time for free. We ask that if you decide to come back that you sign up to bee a member, and pay the yearly dues of $20 per household, to help support our club. Hope to see you all there!!
