VE DAY 80th Anniversary: A Shared Moment of Celebration

Following the enormous success of D-Day 80 - 6 June 2024, in which Blaisdon commemorated the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings through the lighting of its beacon and two Lamp Lights of Peace, we are now focusing our efforts on the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of VE Day which marked the end of the war in Europe and WWII as a whole on 8th May 1945.

On Thursday 8 May 2025 we will once again hold an evening Memorial Service at the Blaisdon War Memorial, then light the Blaisdon Beacon and Lamp Lights of Peace at 9.30pm. That morning we will fly the unique VE Day flag and ring out the bells at St Michaels & All Angels.

Join us in both the Village Hall from 6pm for refreshments prior to a Blaisdon War Memorial Remembrance Service at 7pm, followed from 8pm high on the hill opposite St Michael & All Angels church, for a Brass Band and BBQ party to celebrate this momentous, historic day, which culminates in the lighting of the Beacon and Lamp Lights of Peaqce at 9:30pm.
