Ladybellegate Street, Gloucester, United Kingdom
On Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th September Voices Gloucester is hosting Scriptorium Sessions at Blackfriars with our friends at Gloucester History Festival. As a female craft, quilts are often an overlooked art form. Following the highly successful exhibition of quilts that explored local heritage at Gloucester Cathedral in summer 2024, one of the Threads curators, Jo Teague will be in discussion with one of the quilt makers, Caroline McCatty, to explore how they used cloth to express their thoughts on their heritage within the city. The quilts were created by local quilt makers, exploring themes of migration, displacement, neurodiversity, and cultural histories. The quilts share a profound and reflective experience, which visitors will explore, as the quilts will be on display all weekend.Alongside the talk, on display will be the Costume For Gloucester from 2023, Community Quilts from 2024, along with a brilliant Boxing Booth by puppet maker and artist Caroline McCatty.
We have 30 places bookable in advance, and 20 walk in on the day - book your free tickets here.
