About the event

Gunns Mill Guided Tour: Heritage Open Day 2025
A rare opportunity for visitors to view the on-going repairs at this iconic building, the most complete early charcoal fired blast furnace in Western Europe.

The Forest of Dean Buildings Preservation Trust own and care for the site and have managed a huge amount of restoration over recent years, with funding received from Historic England and others.

This year the Forest of Dean Buildings Preservation Trust have completed major timber repairs to the roof of the charging house enabling removal of some of the internal scaffolding revealing part of the interior.

Come and learn about the mill and find out about the work being done to save this important part of our heritage.

Strong footwear essential. Uneven surfaces. This is a building site. Hard hats and hi-vis vests will be provided. The event is not suitable for children under 12 years.
