About the event

Conscious Creativity: Environmental Sustainability Training
Are you a High Peak-based artist, maker, or creative? Join us to explore how environmental sustainability can shape & inspire your practice.

About this Event

Are you an artist, maker, or creative based in Glossop or the High Peak? Join this workshop to explore what environmental sustainability can look like in your professional creative practice and local community.

As sustainability becomes increasingly important across the creative sector, from funding and commissioning to materials and storytelling, this session offers practical insight and space for reflection.

The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as creatives with some existing knowledge who want to build confidence and deepen their approach.

What the session will cover

  1. The current climate
An accessible introduction to the climate crisis, exploring both the global picture and what it means locally for Glossop and the High Peak.

  1. How our industry is changing
How the arts and cultural sector is responding to environmental challenges — and how artists and makers can adapt in practical, realistic ways.

  1. Practical sustainability
An exploration of how artists and makers can embed environmental thinking in their practice in practical, realistic ways – exploring circular economy thinking and climate communication.

  1. Designing a sustainable project
A guided reflection on what sustainability could look like in your own creative practice — with space to explore ideas, values, and next steps.

What you’ll gain

  • A clear, jargon-free introduction to sustainability in the arts
  • Practical ideas you can apply to your own work
  • Time for discussion, reflection, and peer learning
  • Increased confidence talking about sustainability in your practice
  • A supportive, non-judgemental space — no prior knowledge required

Who is this for?

  • Artists, makers, designers, and creative freelancers
  • Hobbyists, early-career creatives, and established practitioners
  • Those working in cultural or creative organisations in Glossop or the High Peak
