Animal Liberation Tasmania will be hosting a candlelight vigil, for the greyhounds who have passed away/been injured this last year, due to the racing industry.
Where: 6 Goodwood Road (Glenorchy) -> at the corner of the Elwick racecourse, on the Brooker Highway/Goodwood Road intersection
When: Saturday, 31st of May
Time: from 12-1PM
How it will run: Organizers will arrive early, to make sure everything is set up (flowers, signs, ribbons, etc.) At 12pm, we will provide everyone with something to hold, such as flowers, signage, or an LED candle. Then we will stand and sit together (a limited number of chairs will be provided for this one) for the hour.
Feel free to bring real or plastic flowers.
If you wish to, please wear black.
This will be an opportunity to honor these dogs, with the dignity and respect they deserve- things that they were never afforded in their short life as a racing commodity.
Please, stand with us in mourning these innocent dogs death and injuries, and join us as we share with the public what is happening on our local tracks, every single week.
Thank you.
(Note. The reason we are unable to do this type of event in the later hours/evening time, is because we have had issues in the past with aggressive members of the public. By holding it during the daylight hours, we are able to increase participants safety, with visibility.)
