Ntive plants protect and help us in many ways, like reducing wildfire risk and mitigating droughts. Come get to know their names and why they’re so important! This is also part of our partner’s Earth Month and Beyond event series to encourage constant learning and action for our planet.
Volunteers will be taken along a 2.8 mile hike on Glendale’s Catalina Verdugo Trail. It is moderately strenuous with an elevation gain of 547 feet and a path about 5-6 feet wide. We will start with an introduction into native plants, their important roles in our ecosystems, and how they fight climate change. Throughout the walk, various native plants and trees will be identified to volunteers, such as laurel sumac, sycamores, and sages.
