About the event

The Countess of Fife / The Rum Shack / Glasgow / 04.09.25
The Countess of Fife is an Alt Country outfit led by legendary Rezillos’ frontwoman Fay Fife. Urban grit combined with a touch of punk and soulful, tender melodies, takes the alt country genre to warped frontiers of previously unheard terrain.

Fay’s authentic, original lyrics, mellifluous vocals and out there stage presence combine in an unholy alchemy of alt country, punk and a touch of gospel. These are songs about life, sadness and badness, hope and spirituality, and a lot of rock n roll fun.‘It’s as if punk never died; just grew up’ (Rocking Magpie).

The Countess of Fife debut album ‘Star of the Sea’ was released on Last Night From Glasgow in June 2023. Excellent reviews included 4 stars in The Scotsman. It charted at #7 (Scottish Chart) and #21 (UK National Chart). It is due for re-release Summer 2024 on Last Night From Glasgow. The Countess of Fife are currently recording their second album. It includes a brand new track – ‘Angel In My Pocket’, specially recorded for the vinyl reissue – which is released as a single on 5thJuly.

The Countess of Fife is a 5 piece band -Fay Fife (lead vocals & keys) backed by some of Scotland's finest musicians: Kirsten Adamson on backing vocals and acoustic guitar (daughter of the late Stuart Adamson and a great singer songwriter in her own right), Brian McFie on lead guitar (played with Marianne Faithful and a multitude of Scottish bands), Al Gare on double bass / electric bass (best known for work with Imelda May and Jeff Beck) and Willy Molleson on drums (also plays with Eliza Carthy).

“A Celtic Ronnie Spector” **** - Scotsman

“A true music legend” - Fife Today

“Almost a country style Cramps feel.…. showcasing how powerful and rich a voice Fay possesses.” - The Ginger Quiff
