OIL PAINTING MASTERCLASS WITH IONA ROBERTS

This workshop focuses on creating an expressive alla prima oil painting of daffodils from a still life. Starting with a simple pencil sketch, participants will develop a single painting throughout the class, exploring composition and the relationship between the background and foreground, then work with oil paint using a palette knife. Inspired by artists such as Joan Eardley, Monet and John Duncan Ferguson, the session emphasises confident mark-making, colour mixing and strong colour relationships. Students will aim to resolve the painting in an expressive style. The workshop is suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced painters.
