About the event

CinemARC: Tales
Join us for a special presentation of 2014's Iranian film, Tales.

About this Event

CinemARC is proud to present this screening of Tales (2014). Planned in collaboration with Dr Zahra Khosroshahi from the University of Glasgow's Film and TV department, and Loa Pormirza from The Joon Project, this is a rare opportunity to see Rakhshan Banietemad's groundbreaking feature film on the big screen.

Tales | 2014 | 88 minutes

A series of seven vignettes about different people dealing with their every day problems in modern day Iran, that are loosely related to each other.

Panel Discussion

The screening of Rakhshan Banietemad’s Tales will be followed by a panel discussion hosted by Loa Pourmirza and Zahra Khosroshahi. The two will contextualise the conditions through which Tales rises from, unpack the importance of women’s filmmaking and storytelling, and discuss cultural and artistic resistance in the times of crisis.

About Loa Pourmirza

Loa Pourmirza (she/her) is a Pluralistic Therapist and Community Researcher whose work focuses on the intersections of race and diasporic identities, creativity, and bodymind health/ill-health. She is also the Founder of The Joon Project, a community initiative with the aims of supporting consciousness-raising processes centred around our collective liberation.

About Zahra Khosroshahi

Dr Zahra Khosroshahi (she/her) is a lecturer in Film and Television Studies at the University of Glasgow, currently working on her forthcoming book Iranian Women Filmmakers: A Cinema of Resistance (Edinburgh University Press).
