About the Adventure:
This is more than a hike – it’s a journey across Scotland’s only sub-arctic terrain, offering the chance to spot unique wildlife like Dotterel, Ptarmigan, Snow Buntings, and even Reindeer. And if you’re lucky (or brave enough), you might just encounter the legendary Big Grey Man of Ben Macdui! 👀
Our Route:
🔹 Start at the Ski Centre, near Aviemore
🔹 Pass through Coire an t-Sneachda and Coire Lochain
🔹 Hike the ridge of Miadan Creag an Leth Choin
🔹 Reach Lochan Buidhe before summiting Ben Macdui
🔹 Enjoy panoramic views over Speyside on the return
Terrain & Details:
🚶 Distance: 16km
⬆️ Elevation Gain: 770m
⏱️ Duration: Approx. 6–8 hours
⛰️ Terrain: Good paths, but rough and very exposed in places – suitable for those prepared for a full mountain day
🐕 No dogs please – due to nesting birds on the hill this time of year
