You are cordially invited to the Czech Book Club #9. This edition will focus on Václav Havel as a writer and playwright. Citizen Vaněk brings together Havel’s celebrated one-act plays Audience, Unveiling, and Protest, in which the character of Vaněk reflects the moral dilemmas of life in Czechoslovakia under late socialism. Written with sharp wit and autobiographical insight, these plays reveal Havel’s existential perspective “from below,” shaped by his experience working in a brewery after being banned as a playwright.

تتناول هذه النسخة الكاتب والمسرحي فاتسلاف هافل. يضم كتاب المواطن فانيك ثلاث مسرحيات قصيرة شهيرة لهافل هي: المقابلة وعرض خاص واحتجاج، حيث يجسّد فيها فانيك الصراعات الأخلاقية التي واجهها الإنسان في تشيكوسلوفاكيا خلال الحقبة الاشتراكية المتأخرة.
كُتبت هذه المسرحيات بروح نقدية وذكاء ساخر وبنظرة وجودية متأثرة بتجربة هافل الشخصية، حين مُنع من الكتابة واضطر للعمل في مصنع للبيرة.
