הָיָה פֹּה: Poetry of Place after October 7

We are looking forward to a special writing and reading workshop engaged with poetry after October 7.

The largely Hebrew-language event is part of @JoshuaKrug 's residency at the Polonsky Academy at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute in cooperation with the Goethe Institute. The research focuses on how Israeli poetry in the aftermath of October 7 speaks from the shaken ground of “here,” and how poetry reproduces “hereness."

We are inviting to the workshop poets, researchers, translators, and writers to read and discuss examples of poetic and reflective writing. Participants will engage historical and contemporary texts, write poetry, and examine how presence in a place is inscribed within language. The event will culminate in a reading in succession, a shared listening space.

The event invites a quiet presence, a shared testimony, and a sense of depth of being "here" together for a special literary experience in the heart of Jerusalem.
